Republicans of the Female Variety are In a Quandary

UPDATE
Wow…it seems like the GOP is starting to get the idea that women just aren't that into them. So they have a new strategy:

"Women process information differently than men," [Republican ad maker Ashley] O'Connor says. "So much of political advertising focuses on conflict, and facts and figures, and I think that we're already starting to see, when reaching women voters, there's just new techniques that need to be used, and a different tone, and more storytelling."
http://tinyurl.com/kwoszw8

There, I'm sure that will fix it….

When Rep. Ann Wagner (R-Mo.) was asked Monday by The St. Louis Post-Dispatch why Republicans have lagged in recruiting women, she answered, “I don’t know.”

She is the head of a project to remedy this situation, since Republican men are too busy walking around with their feet in their mouths, I guess….
Project Grow

Of course, all you learn from this link is DONATE HERE.

Maybe I can give them a little insight as to the problem. For some reason most intelligent women don't take to kindly to:

You want birth control? YOU'RE A SLUT!

Women who pay for her date's meals are disgusting!

"If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways of shutting that whole thing down"

Or maybe it's the patronizing:
“Forgive me because you and I both know Senator Feinstein. I have the highest regard for her. You’re saying you think she was emotional in these conclusions?”  http://www.msnbc.com/all/hayden-feinstein-too-emotional-over-report

It could be the demeaning:

“The fact that she’s also going to be a grandma will help to humanize her,”

“men are more motivated by money than women are.”

It is pretty bad when women even get into the act:
Women are being told to go to college…to find a mate.

After all that, Repubs have shown that MONEY is more important than actual  people, of either sex.

"... it has been shown that lower-income Republicans feel that preserving benefits is far more important than higher-income Republicans seem to. Higher-income Republicans tend to believe that it is more important to focus on steps to reduce the budget deficit than it is to preserve entitlements such as social security. Democratic beliefs on Social Security are not divided by income."

You will notice I didn't even get into LGBT issues, climate change, single mothers, democracy or oligarchy, environment, education, immigration, job opportunities, homelessness, the place of religion in politics, the art of war, unions, healthcare……or are these "unwomanly?"

Personally, if I lived in Michigan,  I think I'd rather be more interested in this

I Can't Take It Anymore…...

My husband has banned me from the the family room. The cat has jumped off the couch in fear for her life. If I didn't want to waste a good glass of Pinot Grigio…and lose the only flatscreen TV we all have for a while (gotta get the roof redone first), I came to vent at the computer. You can pretty well guess that I will not be invited to watch the State of the Union address….or the what-is-it-now, 500 Republican responses, rebuttals, points of view, denigrations, and get-my-face-in-front-of-the-cameras to follow (although their speeches have been written for weeks…).

I have had my fill of the likes of Paul Ryan, John Boehner, Mitch McConnell,  and Steve Stockman (and where the hell WAS he for 2 weeks?). I do not watch CNN, FOX, ABC, or NBC, for "dinner time" news reports. Besides, I follow everything on the internet, and throw in BBC and AJE along with several great blogs. (And of course Stewart and Colbert.)

As I watched Scott Pelley on CBS..…yes, I hoped that somewhere a moderate news journalist existed, even though I gave up on 60 Minutes. Then he interviewed (which is polite for acquiescing to his political point of view) Paul Ryan, asking his opinion of Pres. Obama's speech…before Ryan's even heard it. Such BS I cannot comprehend. And Pelley sat right there NOT even asking for clarification or calling out the mistruths. ("You Lie")

"The president seems as if he wants to go around the Constitution" with his threat of Executive Orders says Ryan…….just the same as Boehner and Mcconnell continue to spout. NEVER BEFORE has a president (read BLACK) done this!!

The listing of numbers of executive orders issued during the terms of modern presidents included in one of the examples above also bears no resemblance to reality. This chart compares the claimed number of orders issued by each president on the list with the actual number issued, as documented by The American Presidency Project:

NameNumber claimed:Actual number:
Theodore Roosevelt31,081
Franklin Roosevelt113,522
Harry Truman5907
Dwight Eisenhower2484
John Kennedy4214
Lyndon Johnson4325
Richard Nixon1346
Gerald Ford3169
Jimmy Carter3320
Ronald Reagan5381
George H.W. Bush3166
Bill Clinton15364
George W. Bush62291
Barack Obama923168

Democrats need to shout it from the roof tops, make sure everybody on the internet knows it, call out journalists when they continue to allow the Right to spread their garbage on the airwaves, make their voices heard, donate, make sure people vote, and stand up for everybody, not just keep their thoughts and beliefs to themselves. Enough of this "well, we are the reasonable, fact based, understanding party. People will eventually see we have their best interests at heart." NO, they will not……not when they are bombarded constantly with BS, Right Wing money, false equivalency, and GOD (well, I made that last one up…).

OK….I'm done now.

Behind The Big Show

UPDATE
Of course the shutdown was no accident either.
http://www.addictinginfo.org/2013/10/07/house-gop-plot-obamacare-shutdown/

In case there was any doubt left in your mind as to where and why this government shutdown....or "slim down" if you happened to catch FOX's coverage...came into being:

" Shortly after President Obama started his second term, a loose-knit coalition of conservative activists led by former Attorney General Edwin Meese III gathered in the capital to plot strategy. Their push to repeal Mr. Obama’s health care law was going nowhere, and they desperately needed a new plan."

"To many Americans, the shutdown came out of nowhere. But interviews with a wide array of conservatives show that the confrontation that precipitated the crisis was the outgrowth of a long-running effort to undo the law, the Affordable Care Act, since its passage in 2010 — waged by a galaxy of conservative groups with more money, organized tactics and interconnections than is commonly known."

"Last week, with the health care exchanges open for business and a number of prominent Republicans complaining that the “Defund Obamacare” strategy was politically damaging and pointless, Mr. Needham of Heritage Action said he felt good about what the groups had accomplished."

But in the mainstream media, it is presented like this:

In shutdown blame game, Democrats and Republicans united: It’s the other side’s fault

Both Sides To Blame For Shutdown

It's easier (and more profitable apparently) to take the loudest talking points that you hear and run with them...instead of delving into them and finding out that it's just the money doing the talking.

Yep, The Liberal Media At Work

I just took this from NBC's website opening page:
(I'm sure the lead will change thru-out the day.)

WHY BUDGET BATTLES ARE WORSE: IT'S YOU, BABY BOOMERS

"Many of the cuddly newborns of 1947 are now wrinkled retirees collecting the Social Security and Medicare benefits that were promised to them....
The budget standoff is partly the result of those Baby Boom and Baby Bust demographics and of Democrats’ belief in expansive government – best symbolized by President Lyndon Johnson’s creation of Medicare in 1965....

“Republicans enjoy a 33-seat margin in the U.S. House having endured Democratic successes atop the ticket and over one million more votes cast for Democratic House candidates than (for) Republicans,” noted a memo in January from the Republican State Leadership Committee, which organized the $30 million Redistricting Majority Project in 2010."
http://tinyurl.com/agjszyb

It's bad enough that nobody is reporting facts on the Republican's stand on the sequester when it was first debated in 2011. Or how they are adamant about not closing loop holes for the rich on taxes. Or how the Democrats have put forth bills to do away with it but these have been filibustered just like the jobs bills and the budgets. The Repubs do not want you to know that you can GOOGLE the President's plan at the White House website. These same right Wingers do not want you to learn the facts about SS or Medicare, just believe that YOU are the problem.

I know there are problems of all sorts....and right now all sides are yelling at each other.
But... it's just easier to blame those they think cannot fight back: one group is seniors (who have worked all their lives, would still work if someone would hire them, lost their retirement funds and stock portfolios, lost their home's value....the mainstay of their retirement plan, and who raised these idiots who now want to yank everything out from under their feet.).

"Now if there's a smile on my face, It's only there trying to fool the public..."

Oh, those those crazy Republicans in Virginia. They know how to pull the wool over the eyes of the electorate and fellow Congressmen: simply wait till there is a federal holiday AND the inauguration of a new president....and pass a bill to rig, er, redistrict the state for the next election. And if one of the Democratic senators is in Washington that day, even better.

In The United States, a federal holiday is a legal holiday which has been recognized by the US government. Every year on a United States federal holiday, non-essential federal government offices are closed.....

No matter that the move is probably in violation of Virginia's State Constitution, where it is noted that redistricting is done every ten years.

"Indeed, rigging the electoral system has become an increasingly common strategy for the Republican Party. Although Democrats won 1.1 million more votes than Republicans in U.S. House races in 2012, the GOP managed to maintain a 33-seat majority due to creative redistricting. The Republican State Legislative Committee even went as far as to brag about the move in a public report." http://readersupportednews.org/news-section2/318-66/15681-virginia-gop-pulls-sneak-attack-passes-redistricting-during-inauguration
Under the Republicans' plan, the vast majority of African-American voters would be confined to a few districts, isolating their votes and limiting their voices in state elections.

I'm sure our that our ever-vigilant news media.....always on the alert for skullduggery in the political and public sphere.......will be on this like bees on honey. I mean, LOOK how they got right on the Beyonce' lip-synching scandal,  the fact that Hillary Clinton wore glasses to the Benghazi hearing, and some football player's imaginary (???) girlfriend's death (twice).

BUT after changing the channel hundreds of times, scanning the internet for several days, and looking through 15 pages of Google Search......I found that NOT ONE MAJOR NEWS NETWORK (ABC, CBS, MSNBC, FOX, CNN, TCN or the CARTOON NETWORK) even mentioned it. Gee, I wonder why.....

They are either sure their not-so-funny tactic will never be noticed, or they think the American public is easily fooled. DON'T BE SO SURE....

UPDATE:

Finally somebody gets it, or is willing to put it out there. (Chuck Todd no less...)
Wonder when the rest of the "lame stream media" is going to grow a pair?

Even the 47% Are Hard To Convince

It would seem that with Mitt Romney and the GOP falling all over themselves mocking and denigrating every demographic except white, blue-eyed blonde haired two-year olds, he would not be doing THIS well:
Just think, the people that will benefit the LEAST from the Romney/Ryan administration (and I use that term loosely) are the very ones that seem to support them. Well, and the VERY rich of course...

Then there is just one other thing that the Right can play off of, that seems to work very well...with the help of such entities as FOX News:
".... or the feeling of belonging to the dominant, superior race, is simply greater than the need to vote for one's own interest. These hillbillies (sic) sleep better at night....knowing that as long as they're white, they are not inferior, no matter how poor. You could try to appeal to them with facts, except their feelings of intellectual inferiority causes incredible resentment toward anyone showing any intelligence at all.... If you think for a second that they're now not going to vote for Romney because of this brouhaha, you are sadly deluded. These people believe in an implicit wink and nod agreement from conservative elites that they'll still continue to get whatever assistance they may be getting, and that the cuts to these programs will fall almost solely on blacks and Hispanics. They are white. They vote for the white party. They vote for the party that isn't beholden to high falutin' facts that make them feel stupid..."  (comment from)
I'm not even sure that the Republicans death to the veterans job bill will make a large dent, but it should. A large percent of returning veterans, along with seniors on Social Security, are part of Romney's 47%.

"However, Veterans Jobs Corps bill co-sponsor Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) said on the Senate floor today that “this bill is fully paid for and does not violate pay-go rules.” Murray even tried to include most of the provisions of a competing Republican bill but Democrats still ran into opposition. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said he would block the measure until the Pakistani doctor that aided the CIA in looking for Osama bin Laden was freed, while Coburn claimed the bill would have no chance of passing the House so it wasn’t worth the effort."http://thinkprogress.org/security/2012/09/19/875351/republicans-kill-vets-job-bill/
I guess someone....more eloquent and smarter than I am....was right:
“Socialism (or progressivism in our case) never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.” ― John Steinbeck

WWJD IN TODAY'S POLITICS

I overheard some statistics yesterday on CNN put forth by Jack Cafferty, as I worked my way to HGTV. He said that 49% of white people who call themselves Republicans consider themselves "religious" and 37% of white Democrats do the same. Religious means going to church once a week, he explained. A higher percentage of Black and Latino voters consider themselves very religious, and they sway to the Democratic ticket usually. Now, I find that to be very telling and a sad state of affairs today.

To me, a spiritual, religious person (member of an organized church or not) is aware of the world around him. He is in tune with the universe as a whole, and the sufferings of all its people. He does not impose his beliefs on others as he goes about his daily life trying to help those less fortunate than himself. He considers all the good in his life and family, and is more than willing to give a helping hand to build a better world for others. He uses his head and his heart to make decisions in life, and if necessary makes monetary contributions when and where it's needed. The good of the whole group is much more important than the complete satisfaction of every individual in it. He is not easily swayed by the hysteria and ranting of the unruly crowds surrounding him. He uses his head. I think Jesus was this type of person. At one time, I was a Southern Baptist.

Democrats and Republicans are two different animals. Right now I'm more than a little upset with both of groups! Repubs can motivate at the drop of a hat: get that revival feeling going, as it were. Nobody even stops to think "why", let's just go. Dems need to consider all sides, not make a show of things, and include everybody. Not much action there. Guess the better use of "religion" goes to the right wing on this count. But it's not a good thing. In a humorous book I'm reading about girls in the south (go Tennessee!) the author said 98% of Southerners said they own a Bible, but she questioned if they ever opened them.

I'm tired of having to be politically correct for right wing "Christianity" and yet not being able to let others observe their beliefs without being criticized. Why does the "party line" carry more weight than the needs of the people in important decisions? Why do Bible verses need to be used to score political points if you're playing a crocked game? Why does "You lie" seem to be the only thing you hear these days in any type of political discussion? What happened to common sense and the common good? Wars, inquisitions, Crusades, jihads, suicide bombings, Civil wars, and massacres have all be committed in the name of religion. What's the point?

SOME PEOPLE GET IT

"You know, this was an interesting article and kind of at the heart of why I started voting Dem. I don't agree with every Dem program and sometimes I think they are trying to be almost too liberal (in many programs), but that's ok because I'd rather err on the side of over-helping your fellow citizens then under-helping. If I'm tagged a "socialist" because I believe in assisting people (felow Americans) in their time of need, then so be it. 40 hour work weeks, overtime pay, paid vacation, unions, medicare, social security, the EPA, clean air clean water, food inspections and a zillion other programs to benefit us, the people, initiated by Dems.

The largest benficiaries of the repubs are big business, who used to be totally connected to America, but are now multi-nationals who have zero allegience with any country, only the never ending quest for more money (regardless of the pain it causes). When this happens you have lost jobs, lower wages and basically a race to the bottom, which is the end result of free market fundamentalism. 400% and climbing is the ratio of the top pay to the average worker. Thats just sad.

I remember a day when the rich still got rich, the middle class was envied the world over and the working poor had a better than even chance of getting out."............................. by RedneckDem

This quote is in response to an article I read this morning on Huffington Post. I could not have put it as eloquently. Where have we as a nation gone wrong? Have we totally lost all compassion? Has greed become our sole purpose for living? Is it all about ME? Do we let our political leaders and big business hypnotize us into believing that they are there to look out for our well being? That it's OK for them to make all these ungodly amounts of money behind our backs, receive all these atrocious perks mostly with our money---and we're to believe it'll trickle down to us? Have we become that complacent and stupid? Are we mostly fools who put on a show for their benefit like the "tea baggers"?

If that's the case, as a once great nation, we are in trouble.
