JOBS……...

This really is encouraging, especially if you have lost your job in the last few months, your unemployment is running out, and you need to feed your family or pay off your student loans.  I'm sure you've sent hundreds of resume's detailing your decades of experience, college degrees and credentials, military service, your "team leadership", glowing references from those folks who decided to sent your job overseas or "downsize", and you check your emails hourly for responses.

LiveCareer's research has determined the Top 15 Jobs for 2014 to be:
  1. Personal Care Aides
  2. Registered Nurses
  3. Retail Salespeople
  4. Food Preparation and Serving Workers (read: WALMART, McDONALDS)
  5. Nursing Assistants
  6. Secretaries and Administrative Assistants
  7. Customer Service Representatives
  8. Janitors and Cleaners
  9. General and Operations Managers
  10. Construction Laborers
  11. Bookkeeping, Accounting and Auditing Clerks
  12. Childcare Workers
  13. Office Clerks

  16. http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/service-jobs-top-the-list-for-job-seekers-in-2014-246311221.html
All you unemployed folks out there…..get hopping! Who cares if you were once a bank branch manager, teacher, nurse, fireman, teacher, department supervisor, master mechanic, billing clerk, physician's assistant, librarian, technical advisor for a large corporation, auto worker, college professor or dietician. There are PLENTY of jobs out there up for grabs. (Five folks for each one…..) So what if you have to work 2 or 3 of them…you can ALWAYS work your way up, but never to what you were making a year ago, certainly. Just ask any Republican congressman…..if you can find one to talk with you.

Or better yet, ask your parents ( they're on Social Security living it up anyway) to loan you money to go back to school or start your own business. Who knows…one more degree MAY be the answer and there ARE laws against age discrimination. (Oh, I'm sorry: You are overqualified for this position.)

An A….For Effort

You just can't talk sense to the Republican party. You know, the one one that wants to run this country like a business…..

"And he said to them: Knew you not that I must be about my Father's business?" Christianity, The Franchise

It seems like everyday we hear of some poor
"Christian" business owner being "forced" to follow some legal business practices that would enrich the lives of his employees, but loe-and-behold, they go "against his religious beliefs." All of a sudden this becomes a growing indignity:

"Secaucus, NJ is not typically thought of as a hub of Evangelical Christianity, but the CEO and the managers of an Ashley Furniture store in the northern New Jersey town seem to have a difficult time separating their work lives from their religious beliefs and they’re being sued for it."

It seems as if the store's CEO is a member of the C12 Group, which appears to be in the business of making money...for and from Christian businesses. Seems like being Christian is good business:

In God They Trust
by Eric Snyder

A franchise group brings business owners together to learn to bring their faith into their businesses. No, it's not a nonprofit, it's a national, for-profit faith-based franchise. more

Now, in order to benefit fully and faithfully from your faith-based enterprise you would certainly want to take advantage of the following:
"By investing $12,000 you can acquire and own a geographic franchise area where you will have the exclusive rights to host C12 meetings, use C12 proprietary content, material, and business improvement processes, and enjoy all the other benefits of being a member of the national chair corp.  New Chair Training Week and your Start-up Materials require an additional $3,000 investment.  To assure that you have sufficient start-up capital to market your business, C12 further requires a Franchisee to fund a pre-paid marketing account with $10,000 for the first year, essentially a deposit which you can draw down as needed.  Beyond this $25,000 total in start-up investment, we recommend that you have 6-9 months of your living costs in reserve so you have adequate provisions while generating the initial income stream from the C12 practice."

And they are always looking out for you: "C12 seeks to provide highly targeted resources aimed at enhancing its members' ability to lead and serve while providing a "safe" environment for their ongoing professional and spiritual development.  Accordingly, C12 generally works to shield its members from the noise and distraction of those attempting to market services to them."

Sort of a Franchise for the Faithful, I take it. Amway for the Annointed.
Is it just me, or does this sound like some sort of cult or indoctrination..... the kind of thing that Rush Limbaugh and his ilk are always accusing President Obama of planning on doing? But, like the NRA, if there's a buck to be made.....

    SOME PEOPLE GET IT

"You know, this was an interesting article and kind of at the heart of why I started voting Dem. I don't agree with every Dem program and sometimes I think they are trying to be almost too liberal (in many programs), but that's ok because I'd rather err on the side of over-helping your fellow citizens then under-helping. If I'm tagged a "socialist" because I believe in assisting people (felow Americans) in their time of need, then so be it. 40 hour work weeks, overtime pay, paid vacation, unions, medicare, social security, the EPA, clean air clean water, food inspections and a zillion other programs to benefit us, the people, initiated by Dems.

The largest benficiaries of the repubs are big business, who used to be totally connected to America, but are now multi-nationals who have zero allegience with any country, only the never ending quest for more money (regardless of the pain it causes). When this happens you have lost jobs, lower wages and basically a race to the bottom, which is the end result of free market fundamentalism. 400% and climbing is the ratio of the top pay to the average worker. Thats just sad.

I remember a day when the rich still got rich, the middle class was envied the world over and the working poor had a better than even chance of getting out."............................. by RedneckDem

This quote is in response to an article I read this morning on Huffington Post. I could not have put it as eloquently. Where have we as a nation gone wrong? Have we totally lost all compassion? Has greed become our sole purpose for living? Is it all about ME? Do we let our political leaders and big business hypnotize us into believing that they are there to look out for our well being? That it's OK for them to make all these ungodly amounts of money behind our backs, receive all these atrocious perks mostly with our money---and we're to believe it'll trickle down to us? Have we become that complacent and stupid? Are we mostly fools who put on a show for their benefit like the "tea baggers"?

If that's the case, as a once great nation, we are in trouble.

    OCTOBER: WEAR PINK............for whom?

October, as you all know by now, is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Pink is everywhere: pins, soup cans, headbands, sweaters, NASCAR cars, sports figures, purses, food containers. I've personally known two wonderful people who've died from breast cancer--a nurse in our office as well as the wife of the doctor I worked for. This is serious business.

It is also big business. A well-funded, organized, high profile, years' long campaign involving all sorts of businesses, entertainers, media, and political figures. You'd think that with all the money and attention being focused on this disease we'd be further along in its eradication. The medical establishment, as well as its branches in the drug and medical supply industry, should be pretty close to a cure by now. Wouldn't it be great business and political strategy to be the first to come up with a cure for breast cancer? Or any cancer, for that matter. Just think of the financial reward for that development!

Just think, no more women having to suffer with breast cancer surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, harmful drugs, wigs, prosthetics, long hospital stays and doctor visits. The cost savings alone (whether insurance or out-of-pocket) to patients would be tremendous. Then there would be no need for the big Pink Push every year, all the commercialized fundraising. The drug companies and related entities would not have to produce and market all those drugs and....................oh, sorry.

Heart disease is the number one killer of women, but a woman's breasts are better marketing. A very personal and emotional subject. Breast cancer to a woman and also her family is devastating. I thinks it's time for businesses to stop playing on those emotions for some sort of financial gain. That's right.....a woman just said that. Who's really getting the best end of this deal? I don't believe for one minute it's the women suffering from breast cancer.
